The Embroidered Journey London tours are small, bespoke tours in London led by Sam Hunter. With only 8 guests per tour, our group is friendly and intimate, allowing for custom programming based on the group’s interests! This tour is ALWAYS single occupancy in a sweet, centrally located hotel. You never have to share with a stranger! My aim is for you to grab your passport, show up, and let me do the rest!
What people have said about the Embroidered Journey:
Sam has carefully curated a thoughtful and engaging tour experience. I felt taken care of and that each part of the tour had the participants’ FULL London experience in mind. I would highly recommend this experience.
The London Embroidered Journey was one of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had. It was well organized and well researched. While group activities focused on textiles, it gave us enough free time to explore other aspects of the city on our own. Having a small group was ideal.
Loved every minute! We had such a good time.
Visiting Hand & Lock and taking a class there was epic!
I would be remiss if I did not also compliment you on the thoroughness of your preparation and provision of resources to help me get prepared to have the best experience possible.
Loved the special mornings doing thread work while enjoying each other’s company.
Keep doing these trips. You already know I’m going to Paris next year!

Embroidered Journey London Information to Consider:
Walking
London is a walker’s paradise, so please be honest about your fitness capabilities. We’ll be walking and using the Underground to get to our activities, so you’ll want to be up for it. You’ll easily cover 15,000 steps per day.
Using the Underground usually involves lots of stairs, and most stations don’t have an elevator (London is not as ADA-aware as the USA). They often have escalators, but you’ll still have stairs to navigate. FYI, London has great taxis for the days that you just can’t go another step, but you probably don’t want them to be your primary way to get around!
Hotel
We’ve chosen an updated, contemporary, London hotel in upscale Fitzrovia that will treat us well without breaking the bank. There are dozens of restaurants in a 2 or 3 block radius. Its amenities include an elevator, full breakfast, WIFI, and air conditioning. Like most European hotels, you might find the rooms small by American standards, but they are creatively efficient! It’s also close to several Underground stations for easy access to our activities (and a 10 minute walk from Liberty of London). If you plan to extend your trip we will put you in touch with the hotel to make direct arrangements.
Eating
Food-wise, you can eat pretty much any way you want to in London, and contrary to popular jokes, good British food is tasty! If you have some dietary restrictions to work around, we’ll be able to take care of you.
Art Skills
We’re not kidding when we say its OK if you don’t stitch or draw! We’re here to help with that! Embroidery is a very simple skill to learn, and our art kit includes everything you need to make a few stitches. We’ll also show you examples of travel journals that range from zero drawing or painting in them (all collage), up to full-on watercolor sketching. We’ll help you make the version that makes YOU happy.
Travel skills
We’ve put together a program that is designed to ease travel anxiety as we want you to feel relaxed and cared for! You’ll be shuttled and/or guided throughout all the scheduled activities, but you’ll also have plenty of unstructured time to explore on your own. You should be comfortable and willing to wander solo/with friends once we show you how to navigate the Underground!
Allergies
Due to us being in close quarters throughout the tour, no smoking/vaping and no perfumes or colognes for the comfort of all, especially those with sensitivities.
Itinerary
We reserve the right to make slight changes to the activities in the itinerary based on weather and availability, and will do our best to keep them to a minimum.
We will send an individualized contract to you once we’ve invited you to the trip.
